Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story is about driving rented car out to play a very special birthday bash at Hillsborough Golf & Country Club on a cold clear night, celebrating Chuggy Carter's birthday and Joe Berger with Chuggy's Family & Friends organized by Chuggy's Daughter Solana Yemaya Hoffmann-Carter - it was the best party in a long time and Chuggy's friends bring a lot of really good food! I usually don't eat anything before I play, but that high-end Nomad Pizza was too good to resist!
Everybody stay safe out there, and keep masking up in public! I'll be back tomorrow with another Hammond Report,
Jon Hammond

Hammond Report November 28 2020 from Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about ridin' the rails on The Amtrak California Zephyr the day after I filmed one of Paul Butterfield's last performances 34 years ago - I was heading back to NYC, then I saw Paul in the Village on Bleeker Street and he wasn't looking too good. 4 months later we lost him very sadly - in 1972 I had been cruising around in the Lincoln with Rod Hicks, Trevor Lawrence and Ralph Walsh when Paul Butterfield Band was in town - enjoy this rare clip of mine with Buzz Feiten playing and leading the band. Stay safe out there folks, keep masking up in the pandemic, it's raging! I'll be back tomorrow with another Hammond Report,

Hammond Report November 26 2020 from Pandemic Quarantino - Daily Music and Stories from the organist and accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story is about playing a one-nighter (that was supposed to be a two-nighter) in , my original tune "Six Year Itch" - the drummer clicked on it yesterday and reminded me about when we flew out there - yep, we landed in the afternoon, did the sound check, hit the gig and were back on airplanes at 06:30AM the next morning, so we didn't see too much of Louisville! Thanks to all the folks who came out to hear us play - Have a happy safe Thanksgiving holiday day folks! Keep masking up in public and we'll see ya' tomorrow for another Hammond Report and on the other side of the pandemic - Jon Hammond

"Roy Linwood Clark (April 15, 1933 – November 15, 2018) was an American singer and musician. He is best known for having hosted Hee Haw, a nationally televised country variety show, from 1969 to 1997. Clark was an important and influential figure in country music, both as a performer and in helping to popularize the genre.
During the 1970s, Clark frequently guest-hosted for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show and enjoyed a 30-million viewership for Hee Haw. Clark was highly regarded and renowned as a guitarist, banjo player, and fiddler. He was skilled in the traditions of many genres, including classical guitar, country music, Latin music, bluegrass, and pop. He had hit songs as a pop vocalist (e.g., "Yesterday, When I Was Young" and "Thank God and Greyhound"), and his instrumental skill had an enormous effect on generations of bluegrass and country musicians. He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1987, and, in 2009, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He published his autobiography, My Life—in Spite of Myself, in 1994."

Yes, it was time for the annual oiling of the Hammond with the special 'Hammond Oil'! I got down on my hands and knees and did the deed (thanks Arthur D. Kemp PhD / aka Dr. Kemp) for excellent organ servicing tutorials! Back in business, playing a jazz standard here and talkin' to ya' folks! Stay safe and keep on masking up in the pandemic, I'll be back with another Hammond Report tomorrow,

Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about what's behind some of my music, or "Behind the Beat" as my good friend Steven Rosenfeld says in his most excellent journalism! Thankfully I met the late great Sonny Stitt and hung with him when I was playing nightly in Boston's Combat Zone and Sonny would relentlessly expound to me the importance of The Melody - "Melody is King" and the funky beat! Here we get in to some of it, stay safe out there everybody and make sure to mask up in public during the hideous pandemic! Jon Hammond told ya' so - I'll be back tomorrow with another Hammond Report,
